In the Speaking part of the exam, you will talk with an examiner and usually with another student. The test has two parts. First, you will answer questions about yourself, like your name, hobbies, or daily life. Then, you will talk about a picture and answer questions about it. You don’t need perfect grammar — just speak clearly and try your best. The examiner will help you if you don’t understand something. Remember to listen carefully, speak in full sentences, and stay calm. This is your chance to show what you can say in English!
Part 1
In the first part of the Speaking test, the examiner will ask you simple questions about yourself. You might talk about your name, where you live, your hobbies, school, or daily life. This part is short and friendly — it’s a chance to show you can answer questions in English. Try to speak in full sentences, listen carefully, and don’t worry if you make a small mistake. The examiner is there to help you feel comfortable.
🗣️ Sample Dialogue – Speaking Part 1
Examiner: Good morning. Candidate: Good morning.
Examiner: What’s your name? Candidate: My name is Tom.
Examiner: And how old are you? Candidate: I’m twelve years old.
Examiner: Where do you live? Candidate: I live in Madrid, with my family.
Examiner: Do you study English at school? Candidate: Yes, I do. I have English lessons three times a week.
Examiner: What do you like doing in your free time? Candidate: I like playing football and watching cartoons.
Examiner: What’s your favourite food? Candidate: I really like pizza and strawberries.
Examiner: Thank you, Tom.
Part 2
In Part 2 of the Speaking test, you will look at a picture and talk about what you see. You will do this with another student, so you can speak together and help each other. The picture usually shows people doing everyday things, like shopping, playing, or eating. Try to describe what is happening, what people are doing, and where they are. Use the present tense, speak in full sentences, and listen to your partner. You don’t need to be perfect — just speak clearly and try your best. The examiner may ask questions to help you.
🗣️ Sample Speaking Part 2 Dialogue – Park Scene
Examiner: Now, I’d like you to look at this picture. It shows people in a park. Please talk together about what you can see in the picture.
Candidate A: Okay. I can see a girl sitting on a bench. She’s eating a sandwich. Candidate B: Yes, and two boys are playing football on the grass. Candidate A: There’s also a man walking his dog. The dog looks happy. Candidate B: And under the tree, a woman is reading a book. Candidate A: Oh yes, and a child is riding a bicycle on the path. Candidate B: It looks like a sunny day. Everyone is enjoying the park. Candidate A: Yes, it’s a nice place to relax.
Examiner: Thank you. Now I’d like to ask you some questions.
Examiner: Do you like going to the park?
Candidate A: Yes, I do. I go to the park with my family on Sundays. We play games and eat snacks.
Candidate B: I like going with my friends. We play football and sometimes ride our bikes.
Examiner: What do people do in parks?
Candidate A: People walk their dogs, play sports, and relax on the grass.
Candidate B: Some people read books or listen to music. Children play on the swings.
Examiner: Do you prefer going to the park or staying at home?
Candidate A: I prefer going to the park because I like being outside.
Candidate B: I like both. At home I can play video games, but the park is fun too.
Examiner: Thank you. That is the end of the test.
